❓ Barkleys Dog Training Academy – FAQs
  • What makes Barkleys Dog Training Academy different from other dog trainers in Wakefield?
At Barkleys, all training is delivered by IMDT Accredited Trainers, Georgina and Abbie and Kris, who is ADTB accredited, who follow the latest science-based, force-free methods. Unlike outdated approaches that rely on punishment, we use positive reinforcement to build confidence, trust, and long-lasting results for both dogs and their families.
  • Are your dog trainers qualified and accredited?
Yes! Both Georgina and Abbie are fully IMDT (Institute of Modern Dog Trainers) Accredited Instructors, which means they are independently assessed to meet the highest professional standards. Kris is ADTB accredited - another force-free dog training institute. You can feel confident knowing your dog is being trained by experts with proven knowledge in behaviour, learning theory, and modern, kind methods.
  • What is force-free dog training?
Force-free training means we never use pain, fear or intimidation. Instead, we teach your dog using rewards like treats, praise and toys to encourage good behaviour. It's kinder, more effective and builds a strong bond between you and your dog.
  • What kind of results can I expect with force-free training?
Force-free, reward-based training produces reliable and lasting results because dogs are motivated to learn in a positive way. Our clients regularly see improvements in recall, loose-lead walking, focus, and calm behaviour, as well as a boost in confidence—especially for rescue or nervous dogs. Many owners describe their dogs as happier, more relaxed, and more responsive after working with us.

  • Do you have reviews from other dog owners in Wakefield?
Yes! We’re proud to have many ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ reviews from local owners who have seen the benefits of our training first-hand. For example, Rolo’s owners recently said:
“Completed the Mantrailing Introduction course yesterday with my 1 year old Cockapoo Rolo. The instruction was first class… Rolo was outstanding and took to it like a duck to water. Looking forward to the progression phases now!”
Our reviews highlight our patient, knowledgeable trainers and the confidence-building results of our science-based methods

  • How long does it take to see results of force-free dog training?
Every dog learns at their own pace but most owners start noticing positive changes within a few weeks of consistent training. Regular practice and patience are key to long-lasting success!
