📸 Behind every successful mantrailing team is a great trail layer! While most people focus on the dog and handler, I have to admit that sometimes I enjoy being the "hider" just as much as running the trail! 😄 ( as you can see from some of the pictures!) A good trail layer does so much more than simply walk away and hide. We're part of the dog's reward, helping to build confidence, motivation and success throughout their mantrailing journey. For some dogs, that means a big, exciting fire-up before the trail begins. For others, it means having the perfect treat reward ready when they find us. And for nervous or reactive dogs, it means understanding their needs and making sure the find is positive, safe and rewarding, without adding any pressure. One of my favourite things is watching the dog's face when they realise they've found their person. Whether they charge towards you at full speed or carefully approach for their reward, every find is a special moment. Being a trail layer also gives you a front-row seat to watch teams grow in confidence, tackle challenges and celebrate successes. Plus, let's be honest, hiding in unusual places and waiting to be found is great fun! 🤣 So here's a little appreciation post for all the trail layers out there. Thank you for helping create successful finds, building confident dogs, and making the game so rewarding for everyone involved. Who else loves being the hider? 🙋♀️🐾 #Mantrailing #TrailLayer #DogTraining #ForceFreeTraining #ScentWork #MantrailingUK
